The Quebec Cancer Foundation is proud to celebrate the resounding success of the 7th edition of La Marche du Grand défoulement, an event that resulted in the Foundation gathering a record amount of $462,500. This province-wide event, held from September 7th to 21st in Montreal, Trois-Rivières, Quebec City, Chelsea and Granby, brought together hundreds of participants united by their support of a common cause: providing help to Quebecers impacted by cancer.
“Getting involved in La Marche du Grand défoulement goes well beyond what you could ever imagine; it is an act of solidarity and empathy for the 67,500 Quebecers facing cancer each year. This joyous and luminous event constitutes an opportunity to spread hope and to remind everyone who is affected by cancer that they are not alone. The Foundation reaches out to them so that they can regain a certain equilibrium and better face every obstacle, one step at a time. I’m extremely proud to be associated with such a phenomenal organization,” stated Guylaine Tanguay, Quebec Cancer Foundation spokesperson.
Sophie Durocher, provincial ambassador of the event’s 7th edition, is no stranger to the reality of cancer. After her mother succumbed to breast cancer this past spring, Sophie found herself witnessing her father facing prostatic cancer. “The Foundation is truly a beacon in a storm, emanating both kindness and empathy. I am extremely honored to have been able to serve as the provincial ambassador for the 2024 edition of La Marche du Grand défoulement, an event that I believe has proven to be of great significance to all Quebecers affected by cancer,” she added.
The Foundation had set the lofty goal of raising $450,000. Not only did it reach this amount, but it significantly exceeded it. Since its creation in 2018, La Marche du Grand défoulement has raised over $2 million for the Foundation, allowing the latter to support yet more people with cancer and their loved ones. “We thank all of the participants and donors who helped make this year’s event such a resounding success. We also thank our wonderful partners, most notably our presenting partner, Desjardins, and our collaborating partner, Larivière et Massicotte, Pharmaciennes Inc. – Pharmacie d’expertise. Thanks to their generosity, we can continue to develop and enhance the services we provide to meet the growing needs of Quebecers facing cancer,” stated Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Foundation.
Thanks to the commitment and generosity of the community, the Quebec Cancer Foundation continues to offer priceless support to people with cancer and their loved ones. Day in and day out, the Foundation ensures access to concrete and tailored services throughout Quebec. Since its creation, the Foundation has helped over half a million Quebecers through its six lodges, its Info-cancer Services, its complementary therapies, its financial and legal assistance programs, and its corporate support program.
The Quebec Cancer Foundation once again thanks all of the participants, donors, volunteers, allies, and partners who generously supported this important initiative.
