The Quebec Cancer Foundation has set a groundbreaking goal of $7.1 M to help support Quebecers impacted by cancer, because cancer never takes a break.
The needs of people touched by cancer are more pressing than ever before. Cancer screening has dropped by 25 to 35 % since the onset of the pandemic[1]. What more, there is a real fear the severity of today’s less urgent cases will increase as health services become more difficult to obtain as a result of recent offloading. In response to this new reality, the Foundation has undertaken to help still more people benefit from its various programs and services:
For healthcare professionals, patients and their loved ones
- Info-cancer Hotline: oncology nurses, psychologists, nutritionists and researchers
- Resources directory: over 2,200 resources throughout Québec[2].
- Virtual library
- Regional Centres and an extensive network of accommodations throughout Québec
- Programme à Félix: assistance for youth and young adults between the ages of 15 and 39 (in French only)
- Complementary therapies:
- Physical wellness programs
- Psychological support
- Support program for daily living activities (financial assistance)
Helping yet more Quebecers impacted by cancer
The Quebec Cancer Foundation has helped over half a million Quebecers with cancer and their loved ones thus far. “In 2022, we want to support still more Quebecers across the province, particularly given the current situation ” stated Marco Décelles, Executive Director of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
In 2021, for example, the participation rate for complementary therapies increased by almost 50 %, with more than 10,000 people participating online or in person. The Foundation hopes to make these services available to an even greater number of Quebecers in 2022.
To achieve its goal of raising $7.1 M and helping the 60,000 Quebecers impacted by cancer each year, the Foundation needs your precious help. Reaching this milestone will allow us to be present for people in need from all regions of the province.
The Quebec Cancer Foundation is the only organization in the province to help all Quebecers who find themselves impacted by cancer, regardless of their background, age, region of origin, language or the type of cancer they must contend with. This is why we must continue to offer our services.
