Annual Campaign – June 2025

A Draw Nobody Hopes For

Looking on the bright side of things sometimes calls for casting aside the small issues, which are generally temporary and short-lived.

If only we could say the same about more important challenges like cancer… But no, cancer does not let one merely stand upright, arms crossed, hoping that the vicious storm raging will simply pass.

People with cancer and their loved ones must, in addition to coping with the terrifying diagnosis and the physically demanding symptoms and treatments, also contend with the various other considerations and issues that accompany a cancer diagnosis. Cancer, truth be told, brings its share of physical, emotional, and financial hardships—a draw no one hopes to get.

I am, unfortunately, well-equipped to address this topic. My brother, like the other 184 people diagnosed with cancer every day in Quebec, picked the wrong number out of the “hat of fate”. It shakes up many lives—his, mine, and everyone close to him.

Thankfully, the Quebec Cancer Foundation is here. The Foundation’s services—information, housing, psychological support, and financial assistance—are not a luxury, but rather what makes it possible to keep moving forward. The Foundation, in addition to relying on a network of partners to help it continue offering even more services throughout the province, can also count on your staunch support to enable it to carry out its essential mission.

Their Messages Are Heartfelt

We invite you to read the following testimonials from people who followed their hearts in deciding to grant the Foundation an important place in their lives.

“After receiving my cancer diagnosis, I felt as though I had lost control over my body and my soul, and I desperately wanted to make a fundamental change in how I lived my life. Practicing yoga designed for cancer patients was a true revelation.” – Mélanie

“I am humbled to be healthy enough to support those going through difficult times. If life has dealt you a good hand, it’s important to pay it forward. The residents are very grateful for the support offered. Furthermore, we have extremely pleasant exchanges.” – Pierre, volunteer driver

Tick, Tock

In Quebec, as elsewhere in the world, cancer cases are on the rise year after year. But the help the Foundation offers, through its Support program for daily living activities, is also growing.

Support Program for Daily Living Activities: A Definition

  • Last-resort financial assistance that cancer case workers can request on behalf of patients in dire financial straits.
  • A concrete means of helping to lighten the load of those in vulnerable situations.
