Over $460,000 raised for La marche du Grand défoulement presented by Desjardins
On the 5th anniversary of La marche du Grand défoulement, the Quebec Cancer Foundation raised the record-breaking amount of $460,000. From Montreal to Granby, via Trois-Rivières, Quebec City, Gatineau, and Rimouski1, over 1,000 participants took part in this annual and provincial event, held from September 10th to 24th, to raise funds for Quebecers impacted by cancer.
“Participating in La marche du Grand défoulement means walking, giving hope, and supporting life. It’s an opportunity to let all people facing cancer know that they are not alone and that we’re here to support them, every step of the way,” emphasized Guylaine Tanguay, spokesperson of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
We had set our sights on raising $400,000 during the event. Challenge accomplished, goal surpassed.
“We’d like to thank all participants and donors to La marche, as well as our precious partners and allies. This wave of generosity will allow us to enhance our service offer and continue meeting the needs of yet more Quebecers impacted by cancer,” stated Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
Thanks to the community’s mobilization and generosity, we can continue supporting, and comforting people living with cancer and their loved ones by providing concrete and adapted services throughout the province. Since its creation, the Foundation has already helped over half a million Quebecers impacted by cancer, through its 6 Lodges, Info-cancer Services, complementary therapies, and psychological support, financial and legal services.
We warmly thank all of the participants, donors, volunteers, and partners, as well as the mayors of the participating cities, for this great moment of sharing and solidarity, and their mobilization.
