The Quebec Cancer Foundation announces its endorsement of the Canadian Cancer and Work Charter, an initiative aimed at fostering workplaces that are better adapted to the realities of people affected by cancer.
By signing the Charter, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to supporting people living with cancer—including its own employees—both throughout their care journey and in their professional lives. It is committed to supporting them during and after the illness, particularly by facilitating their ability to remain at or return to work.
“Behind every cancer diagnosis is a person experiencing major life changes who must be able to rely on those around them, including their employer. At the Foundation, this commitment is a natural extension of our mission, and we will continue to stand by our employees facing cancer,” said Marco Décelles, General Manager.
While welcoming this initiative and encouraging organizations across Quebec to adopt it, the Foundation is also extending support to employers and workers to help them navigate cancer in the workplace through its Corporate support program, offered for several years.
“With rising cancer rates among people under 50 and longer working lives, more and more workplaces will be confronted with this reality. It is becoming essential for organizations to be prepared. And when cancer arises in the workplace, the Quebec Cancer Foundation is there to support both the organization and the individual,” concluded Mr. Décelles.
