The Quebec Cancer Foundation announces the appointment of Mario St-Hilaire as an observer member of its Board of Directors. A seasoned executive in the financial sector, he will bring recognized expertise in risk management to the Foundation, informed by both a strong professional background and a meaningful personal experience with illness.
Currently Chief Risk Officer at Desjardins Financial Security, a subsidiary of the Desjardins Group, Mr. St-Hilaire has more than 30 years of experience in finance, actuarial science and governance.
Over the course of his career, he has held several strategic roles in corporate actuarial services and enterprise risk management, helping to structure governance frameworks, strengthen oversight of organizational risks and support the financial performance of complex organizations. Known for his rigor, strategic mindset and ability to mobilize teams, he will bring valuable perspective to the Board’s work.
His commitment to the cause of cancer is also rooted in personal experience. Having himself faced a diagnosis in recent years, he now wishes to place his experience, expertise and network in service of people affected by the disease and their loved ones.
“Having personally faced cancer, I was able to see just how essential the support and resources available to those affected truly are. I am honoured to contribute to the Foundation’s mission and to support its development so it can help even more Quebecers,” he said.
The Foundation welcomes his contribution at a time when the needs of people living with cancer and those around them continue to grow.
“The arrival of Mario St-Hilaire as an observer member represents a significant asset for our governance. His expertise in risk management, his understanding of complex organizations and his personal motivation for the cause will enrich our strategic reflections and support the continuation of our mission for people affected by cancer,” said Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
Through this appointment, the Foundation continues its commitment to surrounding itself with leaders whose expertise and lived experience help advance its services and expand its impact for the people it supports across Quebec.
