The Quebec Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Pierre Bélanger and Roxanne Simon to its Board of Directors. Their arrival marks an important step in strengthening the Foundation’s governance, combining financial rigor, human insight, and a diversity of expertise in service of its mission across Quebec.
With over 35 years of experience in institutional finance, Pierre Bélanger has held several key positions, including portfolio manager and strategist for major organizations. As Director of Investments and later Chief Investment Officer for the Pension Plan of the Employees of Quebec’s CPEs and Accredited Private Daycare Centres, he oversaw the management of a $4.8 billion portfolio.
Previously Vice-President, Portfolio Investment Management at Fonds de solidarité FTQ, he supervised portfolios totaling more than $5 billion. His recognized expertise in financial markets, his mastery of large-scale portfolio management, and his commitment to responsible investment will further strengthen the Foundation’s financial sustainability and support its mission.
“My experience will have a positive impact on the Board’s strategic discussions—I’m convinced of it. I want to put my expertise to work for a cause that truly matters to me, by helping ensure the Foundation’s financial sustainability and growth,” he said.
Roxanne Simon, a clinical nurse for more than 17 years, brings a deep understanding of the experiences of patients and their loved ones, as well as a strong ability to make complex health issues more accessible. At the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis Diabetes Clinic, she was the first to define and structure the role of the nurse in diabetes-oncology follow-up care, helping improve access, continuity, and quality of care.
Alongside her clinical practice, she is also an entrepreneur with a strong interest in digital health innovation, always focused on enhancing the patient experience. With her expertise in clinical care and chronic disease prevention, she will strengthen the Foundation’s human-centered approach and help ensure its strategic directions and services remain closely aligned with the needs of its beneficiaries.
“As a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, I will contribute my leadership and deep understanding of patients’ lived experiences, as well as my ability to translate complex human realities into concrete strategies that help improve the journey of those living with cancer,” she said.
By welcoming Mr. Bélanger and Ms. Simon, the Foundation continues to advance its strategic commitment to exemplary governance and to an approach fully centered on the real needs of people affected by cancer.
“Their dedication and leadership will help the Foundation evolve and continue offering even more hope and adapted support to those affected by cancer,” said Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
The Board of Directors is proud to rely on their complementary expertise, which will further strengthen the team and support the Foundation’s mission to assist people with cancer and their loved ones across Quebec.
