The Quebec Cancer Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Martin Champagne to its Board of Directors.

A hematologist and medical oncologist in the Department of Medicine at the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (Verdun Hospital), Dr. Champagne has dedicated his career to supporting individuals affected by cancer and advancing oncological care in Quebec.

A respected figure in the medical community, he has received numerous awards throughout his career. In 1996, he notably performed the first hematopoietic stem cell transplant in Canada using cord blood. He also served as President of the Quebec Association of Hematologists and Oncologists (AMHOQ) from 2015 to 2022.

“Working daily with cancer patients and their families, I recognize the importance of an organization like the Foundation. I also want to contribute with my perspective from the field to ensure the Foundation remains relevant and aligned with everyday needs. I am honored to contribute to the Foundation’s mission and support its development so that it can help even more Quebecers,” says Dr. Martin Champagne.

In a context where the needs of people affected by cancer and their families continue to grow, the Foundation is delighted to be able to count on his expertise, vision, and in-depth knowledge of the field.

“I have known and collaborated with Dr. Champagne for over 20 years. His appointment as a Board member is a significant asset to our governance. His medical expertise, understanding of the hospital environment, and personal commitment to the cause will enrich our strategic thinking and support the continuation of our mission to help people affected by cancer,” said Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

With this appointment, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to surrounding itself with leaders whose expertise and experience contribute to evolving its services and increasing its impact on the population throughout Quebec.
