Kinesiology for yet more Quebecers who are facing cancer

March 9, 2022

Now available in Rouyn-Noranda!

The Quebec Cancer Foundation is thrilled to announce that it will be partnering with Physiothérapie Yves Plourde, inc. These facility will offer kinesiology services to persons with cancer, partly subsidized by Pfizer Canada ULC.

This new partnership, in Rouyn-Noranda, will enhance the provincial physical activity services offered free of charge to Quebecers who must cope with the effects of cancer,” states the Foundation’s General Manager Marco Décelles.

Since March 2nd, the physiotherapy clinic Physiothérapie Yves Plourde, inc. has been offering kinesiology workshops lasting for a period of 6 weeks and focusing on exercises to build strength, develop greater mobility, improve balance and help channel energy and control pain. A second series of such workshops will be offered in the fall of 2022 so that even more Quebecers from the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region can benefit from the services.

Provided in the 6 regional Centers of the Foundation and online, this new collaboration supplements the kinesiology services offered by our partners:

  • In Beauce, with Pavillon du cœur Beauce-Etchemin
  • On the North Shore of Montreal, with Ékisanté
  • On the South Shore of Montreal, with Kinik

Kinesiology for optimal health

Kinesiology, like many of the other services offered by the Foundation, has positive impacts on both mental and physical health.

“Kinesiology is what brought me the greatest benefit. Before that, I felt as if I’d been sawed in half. With kinesiology, I noticed that my muscles were stronger and I began feeling more in shape,” says Jocelyne, who has breast cancer.
