On its 6th anniversary, La marche du Grand défoulement organized by the Quebec Cancer Foundation raised $458,000. Between September 9th to the 23rd, from Montreal to Granby, as well as Trois-Rivières, Quebec City, and Gatineau, more than 1,150 of participants took part in this province-wide annual event to raise funds in support of Quebecers impacted by cancer.

“Participating in La marche du Grand défoulement is coming together for the 60,000 Quebecers who are or will be facing cancer this year. This radiant and festive event is an excellent way of spreading hope and letting everyone touched by cancer know that they are not fighting alone,” emphasized Foundation spokesperson Guylaine Tanguay

One person who knows this very well is Sophie Reis, provincial ambassador of the event’s 6th edition. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, she was welcomed by the Foundation with open arms and is now happy to share that our services helped her “… cope with the ordeal with more joy, vitality, and ease.”

The Foundation had set its sights on a lofty goal, that of raising $425,000 during the event. Challenge accomplished, objective surpassed. “We want to extend our sincerest thanks to all of the participants and donors who made this year’s event such a resounding success. We also want to acknowledge our presenting partner, Desjardins, and our collaborating partner, Larivière et Massicotte, Pharmaciennes inc. Your benevolence will allow us to enhance our service offer and continue meeting the needs of yet more Quebecers touched by cancer,” stated Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

Thanks to the population’s mobilization and generosity, the Quebec Cancer Foundation can continue to support, accompany, and comfort persons with cancer and their loved ones by providing concrete and adapted services throughout the province. Since its creation, the Foundation has already helped over half a million Quebecers touched by cancer, through its 6 Lodges, Info-cancer hotline services, complementary therapies, and programs offering financial assistance and legal aid.

The Quebec Cancer Foundation thanks all of the participants, donors, volunteers, allies, and partners for making this grand moment of sharing and solidarity possible.
