Complementary information: Government financial assistance for transportation and accommodation for clients in geographically remote situations to receive oncology treatments. Program for any user (as well as the family/social companion, when required) who, at the request of the original institution, must travel more than 200 kilometers to another institution to receive oncology treatments can be reimbursed for part of the following expenses: Travel: Cost of the most economical public transportation (plane, train, taxi, ferry and bus), round trip between the municipality where they usually receive their care/services and the institution that will provide them or $0.20/km for the use of a car covering this round trip distance. Accommodation expenses: The daily contribution (covering meal and accommodation costs) paid by the user to a shelter or a “cancer hotel” recognized by the MSSS is reimbursable. In the event of temporary unavailability in these resources, the reimbursement for accommodation in other types of RSSS establishments is $108/night for a maximum of two nights per travel episode. The family/social companion receives an amount of $46.25/night to compensate for their meal expenses. The user must submit the request for a doctor's consultation to the original establishment.
