The Quebec Cancer Foundation Launches Its First National Awareness Campaign on Cancer Screening

February 2, 2026

The Quebec Cancer Foundation is reaching a major milestone with the launch of its first national, multiplatform cancer screening awareness campaign, running from February 2 to 28, 2026, across Quebec.

Titled “Some things can wait. CANCER WON’T.”, this campaign is part of a strategic shift the Foundation has been advancing for the past two years: acting earlier, more broadly, and closer to people.

Putting prevention at the forefront

“Grounded in data, frontline insights, and a clear commitment to collective responsibility, this initiative marks a decisive step toward fully integrating prevention and screening into the Foundation’s mission. Too often, cancer is addressed only once the disease is already present, even though screening allows us to act sooner and save lives. Through this campaign, we want to send a strong message: prevention and screening must become reflexes, well before cancer strikes,” says Marco Décelles, General Manager at the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

A large-scale initiative

Through this campaign, the Foundation invites Quebecers to prioritize their health, despite busy schedules, digital distractions, or the tendency to procrastinate. The message is clear and unequivocal: screening saves lives.

“In Quebec, someone receives a cancer diagnosis every eight minutes. Faced with this reality, investing in prevention is not optional: it is a deliberate and firmly held choice for the Foundation. It is also a concrete way to remind people that every preventive action matters and that, collectively, we can reduce the burden of cancer,” adds Jennifer-Kim Noël, Director of Communications and Public Relations at the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

The campaign will appear across multiple platforms to reach as many people as possible, including:

  • Digital radio;
  • Transit shelters;
  • EXO buses and trains;
  • Digital out-of-home ads in shopping centres;
  • Paid advertising and organic content on social media.

Messages that inspire reflection

For example, in promoting HPV screening for women aged 25 to 50, the campaign highlights how this essential health action is often postponed amid the fast pace of daily life. The tone is supportive and direct: taking care of yourself also means giving yourself the chance to act in time.

Answering emails, making your grocery list… it all adds up.
But your HPV test isn’t “just another task.”
It’s a small step that could save your life.

The proposed messages are designed to spark reflection and raise awareness: some things can wait… your health cannot.

Bringing prevention and screening closer to people

With this first national awareness campaign, the Quebec Cancer Foundation reaffirms its role as a mobilizing force and its commitment to bringing prevention and screening closer to people, within their everyday reality.

Beyond awareness, this initiative calls for a genuine cultural shift around preventive health: acting now, before cancer strikes.

Your role matters

This campaign concerns us all — collectively and individually. Help amplify its reach:

  • by sharing our messages on your networks
  • by taking a photo near a campaign display and posting it using the hashtags #leCancerNattendPas and #CancerWontWait
  • by sharing your own stories or reflections
  • by embodying this prevention message in your own way

Together, let’s continue this movement by bringing prevention and screening closer to people: one action, one message, one moment of awareness at a time.
