Cancer is, without question, one of the greatest public health challenges of our time. As the leading cause of death in the country—and one that continues to rise, even among younger generations—it demands a response that matches its scale: an ambitious vision and a sustained, coordinated national mobilization. The fight against cancer is not just about treatment; it’s a societal project. Cancer is advancing, but together, we can reverse the trend.
Nearly 50 Years of Action: A Renewed Commitment
For almost half a century, the Quebec Cancer Foundation has stood beside those facing this difficult journey. Present on the ground and close to patients, we also act as a catalyst for change within the healthcare network. Our role: to facilitate access, strengthen capacity for action, and transform practices to create a more human, accessible, and equitable health ecosystem.
- Over $320,000 provided in direct assistance to families through the Support program for daily living activities (PAVQ), and 115 hospital-based counselors trained. To date, over $730,000 has been distributed and over 530 counselors trained across Quebec.
- The rollout of several multi-platform awareness campaigns, including La Roue de l’infortune (available in French only).
- Strong advocacy positions on issues such as prevention, colorectal cancer screening, breast cancer screening, and equitable access to care and services.
- The opening of Maison Moreau in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, our seventh Regional Center and Lodge.
- The development of educational videos on the oncology care journey.
- A new partnership with Myeloma Canada to expand access to support through the Info-cancer Services.
These achievements reflect our strategic plan, deeply rooted in on-the-ground realities and guided by a clear vision: building a healthcare ecosystem that puts people at the heart of its mission.
2026: Facilitate, Accelerate, Transform
This new year marks a turning point—one of amplification. Our goals are to:
- Ensure patients’ voices are heard where decisions are made, in alignment with major public directions in oncology and prevention, and in close collaboration with our new Director, Patient Policy and Advocacy.
- Expand prevention and screening initiatives.
- Work actively with the healthcare network to strengthen system capacity through both local and national partnerships.
- Develop new programs shaped by real community needs and co-created with partners across the province.
- Enhance essential services, including psychological support, information, financial aid, complementary therapies, lodging, and more.
2026 Target: 10 M$ to Accelerate Change
These funds will strengthen our actions across Quebec and deliver tangible results: more prevention, more screening, more support, and more community-based services for Quebecers.
“In 2026, we must do more—and do better—to truly make change happen. We must amplify the voices of patients, intensify prevention and screening, and reinforce our presence on the ground. Every Quebecer must have access to resources and support in this collective cause, for a healthier future,” says Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Foundation.
Together, We Can Accelerate Change
We call on the community and businesses to join this movement. Every donation, every partnership, every gesture counts. Change comes through collective engagement. What you give today is far more than financial support—it creates real and immediate impact in the lives of thousands of families.
