Financial goal of $9 million in 2025: a year of action and commitment

February 7, 2025

The Quebec Cancer Foundation views 2024 as a year of major achievements that enabled the organization to lay the groundwork for reaching its future goals. The Foundation garnered significant exposure over the year, as a result of its presence in front of the Quebec National Assembly in February and year-long media coverage of its call for a concrete action plan to better address the issue of cancer.

The Foundation also rolled out its financial support program for hospital centers, with funding of $1 million over a four-year period, and enhanced its corporate support program to meet current workplace needs. Furthermore, the organization’s Lodge in the Estrie region underwent a complete overhaul – to the tune of over $1 million- and now offers patients with cancer an increasingly welcoming and suitable environment.

“After a year replete with accomplishments, we are approaching 2025 with the firm intention of going further. Our goal of $9 million is more than a mere financial objective, it is also a shared commitment to support people affected by cancer and transform Quebec into a province where everyone can access relevant care when needed. We will be multiplying our initiatives in the areas of prevention, screening, and support, and taking steps to have a greater impact in all regions of Quebec,” stated Marco Décelles, General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

Three priorities

This year, the Foundation will continue focusing on its three main priorities. The well-being of people affected by cancer will remain at the heart of its mission, with actions designed to compel decision-makers to make cancer a priority and improve health services across the province. At the same time, increased efforts to raise awareness will focus public attention on screening and prevention measures, through messages aired as part of a nationwide digital and television campaign. Lastly, the opening of a 7th Lodge in Rouyn-Noranda in the summer of 2025 will meet the pressing needs of patients in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region by offering them a safe and comfortable place to stay near their treatment facility.

This year, we will push back the boundaries as we strive to change more lives. With cancer touching one Quebecer every 8 minutes, community support and solidarity are more important than ever. Every contribution is important to ensure a future where all Quebecers with cancer and their loved ones have access to support, accommodation, and complementary services adapted to their needs,” highlighted Véronique Ranger, Assistant General Manager of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
